Description
Formerly the home of a local farming family, this expertly restored Villa is steeped in history and the traditions of the country life in Marche. Villa Viola is surrounded by an enchanting and fascinating 10,000 square metres of woodland on the edge of the Monti Sibillini National Park. Ideally situated for exploring Le Marche, Villa Viola is just half an hour from the adriatic coast and ten minutes from the beautiful Monti Sibillini nature reserve. Excursions can be made to local towns eg. Macerata home of the famous opera and to the fortress town of Ascoli Piceno with its historic centre and wonderful piazza.
Throughout the summer there are a variety of festivals which take place in the area. In Servigliano there is the “Infiorata”, when talented local women and men create artistic images along the cobbled streets from flower petals. Experience the excitement of a medieval jousting contest held in Ascoli Piceno at the beginning of August.
Villa Viola has been carefully restored and furnished with great taste by Enrica and her artistic family who work in the restoration of antiques. In the bedrooms there are beautiful hand painted designs and exquisite dried flower arrangements which add to the individuality of this country house. The guests will enjoy the wonderful views from the pool(11 x 5.5 metres) of the medieval town of Monte San Martino in the distance.
The Accommodation
First Floor: Access to the main living accommodation is via external stone steps to the first floor. Entrance is into the spacious dining room with an attractive open fireplace. This leads to a kitchen (cooking hob, oven, fridge, freezer,dishwasher). A door leads from the dining room to the spacious lounge with two comfy settees (one bed settee). One double/twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom with a shower. Two double bedrooms share a big bathroom with a bath and a shower. There is also a large terrace on the first floor with a table , chairs and parasol. This has nice views overlooking the pool area and the hills.
Ground floor: On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with bathroom and a big lounge. Upon prior consultation with Discovery Travel and the owner we can arrange special events and birthday celebrations at this property.
There is also a new full size catering kitchen on the ground floor. However this is only for wedding and celebration events which have been booked with Discovery Travel and the kitchen may only be used with Discovery Travel's prior consent.
By the swimming pool there is a barbecue, table and chairs for dining “al fresco”. There is an outside bathroom as well with access from the garden and the swimming pool.
Facilities : washing machine, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, iron, hair dryer, CD player, TV with DVD player.
There are 2 Agriturismi (farmhouses) both about 10 minutes walk from Villa Viola and both serve dinner (must be pre-booked). You will find details in your information pack. There is also a nice restaurant in Smerillo. Alternatively, you may hire a cook for one or more nights of your stay.

Villa Viola was a real find when I discovered this property two years ago. This year Enrica has restored the ground floor of the villa which gives groups more space. Enrica and her sister both celebrated their weddings here in 2005. We are able to arrange weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries,birthday parties and other celebrations here.
